👗 Celebrate the CGTA 10th Annual Costume Drop & Swap!

The League of Chicago Theatres, Conscious Costume, and the Chicago Green Theatre Alliance, are teaming up with Raven Theatre on October 16 + 17 for another round of fun, free costumes, fabulous friends, and freeing your household AND theatre textiles. This is one of the BEST Chicago theatre sustainability resources and a great way for everyone to have an Eco Friendly Halloween!

This year, PRIDE Chicago will be providing a photo booth in honor of LGBTQ+ History Month so you can play dress up at the event and capture all the memories. PLUS Gilty Pig food truck will be joining us so you can grab a snack while you browse.

As always, we ask that you only bring items that we accept for this epic event. We do our best to ensure that this event is zero waste, check our FAQ page for information on how we redistribute materials after the swap.

We are at capacity for volunteers during the event but welcome Volunteers on Monday October 19th to help put things away at our space at 1240 N Homan Ave - please email rentals@consciouscostume.com to let us know you’ll be coming!

All are welcome to attend, everything is free for the taking but we appreciate tips to help us keep running this event and buy snacks for our wonderful volunteers who make this possible!

  • If you have a lot of costumes to drop off, please fill out this form so we can make sure we are ready for you. Time slots are available beginning Thursday, Oct. 15 starting at noon.

  • Can anyone attend?

    Yes! You do not have to be a theatre or film professional to attend.

    Is there any cost?

    Everything is free for the taking! However, this event is not free to produce and we appreciate tips to help us keep this accessible to all.

    What happens to the items that are left after the swap?

    We do our best to sustainably re-home every item we get. We work with local creative reuse centers, non-profits, shelters, mutual aid orgs, recyclers, and more! Please email us if you know of an organization we should invite!

    Why do you host this event?

    The Chicago Green Theatre Alliance and Conscious Costume are dedicated to eco-conscious theatre productions in Chicago and providing environmentally friendly alternatives to fast fashion costumes. This annual event helps make costumes more sustainable in theatre, films, and Halloween!
    This is also a great opportunity to cycle what we have in our stock for year round sustainable costume rentals.
